Troubles with a friend who happens to be female?

Just gonna say this, Im a guy, she's a girl. Anyway so she's always putting me down and even though i know she's joking, but it hurts nontheless. I normally shake it off by the end of the day though. But the most annoying part is, she likes to hit me. For stupid reasons like asking her for something or telling not to call me names, or if i do something wrong. Flicking in the face, biting, cheap shots, punching, kicking, slapping, and elbowing are among her favorite things to do. Anyway, the last time she was mad at me for being mean to her i told her to just ask me to stop if it was bugging her. Which i did. And maintain at a fairly decent rate ( i still might be a teensy bit mean at times, rarely though, but otherwise im pretty nice). And yet everytime i ask her to stop calling me names (i.e stupid, skinny, etc.) or to stop hitting me, meanly enough, she responds by hitting me -_- She also happens to be the main cause of my lack of self-esteem, because trust me, you haventheard all of the stuff she says to me. She also finds it necessary to make fun of that and tell everyone about it. But enough of that backstory, what happened was she was doing her normal stuff (hitting, put-downs, etc.) but then she was like "Your'e going to Hell because you don't believe in God." I told her i wasnt going to Hell and that that wasnt very nice, she called me a name, so i told her to stop calling me names. Then she hit me, for probably the billionth time, and i snapped (though i didnt truly show ALL of my anger) i said "Can you stop being a *****!?!" Then after that she didnt talk to me and then later at lunch said while laughing and smiling asked if i was still mad at her.(Obviously) Is it bad that i feel bad about this? Cause' generally, i dont like to lose friends. And she could be kinda nice and understanding at times. And now she's acting all pissed at me! Did i go a little too overboard? Should i be feeling bad? i have so many more questions...ADVICE PLEASE.Troubles with a friend who happens to be female?
In my opinion, you have every right to snap at her. She is continuously making fun of you, calling you names, putting you down, hitting you, etc. You tell her to stop but she responds by hitting you? She is the main cause of your lack of self-esteem? Tell me, why is she even considered your friend if this is the case? You did not go overboard. I don't get why she is pissed at you. Tell me, did she realise that you were pissed off at her for doing these hurtful things to you? I suppose you should feel bad for calling her that name. I suppose you would've just yelled her to stop without calling her names. Don't stoop to her level. Look, this time make it absolutely clear to her that you are tired of her putting you down, and you want her to finally stop doing these things to you. Tell her that if she continues, then you might leave her. You aren't going to put up with this anymore.
