I'm in highschool, moving to canada. Help?

I'm 16 years old. I've always lived in Asia and now I'm going to be moving to Canada. I have some really good friends here and I'm happy with my life, but I'm kinda worried about what it'll be like there and if i'll fit in. We say its bad to judge people by their appearance but that's what people usually tend to do. I'm fat (55 kgs), short (5"2) and well my skin colour will be different from the people there. So coz of how i look people might not wanna get to know me. I'm also really shy and dont talk much to people (except my close friends). So I'm not sure how i'll make new friends there. Can anyone please give me any tips? What im really worried about is what to wear. We have school uniforms here so I've never really had the problem of deciding what to wear to school. Ofcourse, when i go out with friends its different, coz they wont judge me, and its not even like I'd go out somewhere with them everyday, so they wont see me wear the same clothes every 2 weeks. But if I have to wear casuals to school thats probably what would happen. I cant ask my parents to get me new clothes the moment we get there, when they have more important things to do like getting a new home or furniture. The other thing is i wear jeans or capris everywhere, coz my thighs are kinda fat, and i avoid wearin dresses and skirts. Next problem: My hair. Its curly, frizzy, and completely out of control. I CANNOT leave it open or it'll be all over the place in about 5 minutes. Even when i tie it into a ponytail it manages to took messy. In my school, makeup isnt allowed, but girls usually wear makeup to school in canada. The most i have ever worn is lip gloss and eyeliner, and that's only occasionally. Is it okay if i don't wear makeup to school, or will i look out of place? If yes then what makeup should i wear? Also, what kind of bag should i use for school? (i use a shoulder bag now). Also, can anyone please give me any tips on what else i should do? I'm really sorry for this huge paragraph, and thanks for reading it if you actually reached this part. I usually wouldn't come here with my problems, but I'm really lost and i dont know where else to ask. Thanks again!|||Relax, you're moving to Canada, not USA. There's lots and lots of immigrants from Asia already there. I'm sure Canadians accept you as you are couldn't care less about your clothes, it's not like you're moving to Paris, France! And what you call fat is probably skinny when compared to Americans. Sure you're moving to Canada but Canadians have seen Americans before so relax. You'll be fine. Finally, Canadians aren't as obsessed with looks (fat, make up, plastic surgery) as Americans are. Before you know it, you'll have plenty of friends, of all races and colors because that's what Canadians are. My suggestion is google Canada and you'll see.|||Well, if you're moving on down here, you'll be welcomed. There are plenty of Asians living in Canada already; it won't make a very big difference except that we'll have more Asians here. It would be a whole lot worse if you were moving to the U.S.A., because there isn't as many Asians there. Canada is basically a hot spot for different cultures. We've got people from all over the world. Moving to Canada will be one of the best choices that you make. I can guarantee that you will feel quite at home here.|||Theres loads of asians in canada you'll fit in perfectly trust me theres almost more asians than white people.|||Relax.

Being Asian in Canada is no big deal at all. Racism exists, but, it is very minimal, especially in the cities. Your skin colour won't matter in the first place, and, you will look like half your class anyway. My daughter's school (in Ottawa) is 1/2 Muslim - loads of brown (and darker) faces around.

Fat? Not by much! Remember - it is colder here, and fat is a good insulator. You'll probably be more comfortable! You are a bit shorter than many Caucasians, but, Asians tend to be shorter - no big deal here.

Kids come in all sorts. Some wear so much make-up, you wonder why the don't fall flat on their faces from the weight of it all. Some wear none at all. School uniforms are rare in Canada - the Separate Board in Ontario has them, but, very few other places do. As for your hair: I have yet to meet a woman who is happy with her hair!

A shoulder bag is fine. And, the clothes you wear are too. People kind of set their own styles. There are trends sometimes, but, many people just do their own thing. Not many teen girls wear dresses or skirts though, especially at school. That style is coming back a bit, but, really not much at all.

I think you will fit in just fine. Remember, 1/4 of Canadians living here were born outside the country. Immigrants fit right in. And, we are generally a pretty tolerant people. I will not take you long to fit in at all. I think you will like living here!|||Your line wear you said wear casual is the normal for most days at school. After a few weeks here you should be able to adjust to the local dress code. School is a fashion parade for some but not most. Make up is not usually a big deal some do some don,t a little a lot. Depends on how skilful you are in using it. Depending on where you are going climate humidity will have a great effect on your hair you may want to get a trim when you get here. Try you tube to get some pictures of everyday people. Asian in some areas is 20-25% of the people you will fit in fine. Enjoy the adventure of going to a new country.|||We don`t like people like you, yes you will be bullied and hazed and made fun of in school everyday. Enough bloody immigrants already|||Please don't listen to James; don't worry you'll fit right in and no one will make fun of you; In fact, students here in high school love it when there is someone new around and love to talk! I'm sure you'll find new friends; just join some groups in school to meet new people, talk to people in your classes etc...I was shy too but that didn't stop me from making new friends!

You're 55kgs? That's not fat at all! Actually that's quite normal! As for your height, that's alright too:)

Don't worry about your skin colour; there are people here of all skin colours!

For your clothes, you'll be fine; there are some girls who are extra fashoniable with their clothing and there are girls who are not and they fit perfectly in the crowd. Please don't think that what you see in American movies about "popular" girls teasing and bossing the school around happens here as far as i know! Most students are really nice and really don't care what you wear or whether you do make up or not. The truth is, i've only worn eyeliner in high school and nothing else; most of the time, I never wore makeup and i had a lot of friends, fitted in with everyone and never got teased, so DON'T WORRY! You'll have a diverse group friends from every race, every height, every weight, every clothing style, and every intellect!

As for the dresses, no one cares if you wear them or not.

For the hair also, that's okay; frizzy hair are actually really cool!

Shoulder bag is great because that's what most girls carry in high school; even I used to carry one:)

Bottom line, don't worry a bit; you'll fit right in and make a lot friends; you're going to have an amazing experience here!

Trust me, I'm 18 years old and I just graduated from high school last year:))

By the way which country are you coming from? Which city are you going to? Just curious...lol:D
