How does Facebook determine our location or area from our computer?

When I update my status from my computer, it automatically displays the area I'm in so it would say "Near ____" underneath the status.

I know it uses GPS to do that on phones but how does it do the same thing on a computer? How does Facebook determine our location or area from our computer?
it uses your ISP's IP addressHow does Facebook determine our location or area from our computer?
It's taking the IP address of your computer and looking it up in a database. Normally this means it gets the address for your ISP.

It's no where near as accurate as using GPS or cell towers but will normally give you the correct city.

http://www.geoiptool.com/ will look up your current (or any) IP address and give you a location. How does Facebook determine our location or area from our computer?
It tracks you Ip address's geographic location.
Any site you visit gets your Ip address
Idk but you can change it through settings.
