What is the male head wrap called?

Also, Muslim is the people and Islam is the religion, right?

It just depends on culture and context. Many people here mentioned the hijab (head scarf), burqa, chador (iranian), niqab, abaya, jelbab, etc.

The Quran itself however only talks about dressing modestly. Women are required to cover their bossom area and lengthen their garments. These are the basic guidelines. However, culture crept in and now you have all of these other things that women wear. You will find Muslims dressing across a wide spectrum of interpretations.

And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their zeenah (charms, or beauty and ornaments) except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their khimar (veils) over their bosoms and not display their zeenah except to their husbands, their fathers .... and that they should not strike their feet so as to draw attention to their hidden zeenah (ornaments). when talking about religion, it is very important not to generalize. islam is a very broad field and muslims a very heterogeneous group of people. try to be as precise and non-judgmental in your semantics as possible.

Generally speaking, the woman's 'cover up' is called hijab. THere are several variations, depending on where she is. Examples- The burqa is usually worn in afghanistan, like a big blue drape covering the whole body from head to toe, with mesh over the face. The abaya is common in the middle east too, more like a long black dress, also covers the head but not always the face. The separate face veil is called niqab (now banned in France). Hijab is the general term for covering one's self, dressing modestly, and can be applied to both men and women.
