i didn't think i was going to want to take it i was going to do geography, history, french and art instead but i went to a thing at school which tells you what its about and stuff and i think i'm going to take it instead of art. Should i? Do good sixth forms and unis like it?Is gcse economics a good subject to take?
You included that you'd heard what the course follows and you are considering it? that tells me that you obviously became interested in what the subject teaches. If this is the case, there is no doubt that you should take it! If you think a subject is interesting and are motivated to do well in it, you should take it. The thought of 'would sixth forms and universities like my choices' should never cross your mind.
I'll let you in on something. Sixth forms don't care what subjects you chose at GCSE. They only look at your grades. If you have good grades, they'll take you on. It doesn't matter if you get an A* in the most useless subject going, at the end of the day, it is still an A* and that's what they like to see. In all honestly, Universities don't even bother looking at GCSE results. They only look at your highest form of education which would be your A-levels at that point.
Different schools follow separate courses so it would be wise to ask your teacher what courses your chosen subjects teach. Geography has many courses that it could follow - some more interesting than others. Same goes with History. Then there's French which is just a basic language, if you like languages, definitely take it. ART is a ton of work I've heard. There is a 8-hour exam at the end of year 11 where you have to make something up off the top of your head to paint/draw/make and it's worth a good portion of your overall grade (almost 50% I think) so that put me off choosing ART but my friends who ended up taking it hate it and have to stay after school to catch up on work and to meet deadline dates. You need motivation and good artistic skills to take this. Don't take it if you want to focus more on educational subjects like Maths and Science because ART will take a lot of your time away from revising those subjects when exams come along. Is gcse economics a good subject to take?
I would take it as long as you are interested in it because whatever you like you would do well in, and unis don't look at the subjects but the grades so as long as you have A and A* you'll be fine. Good Luck!Is gcse economics a good subject to take?
Yes. I took it, and it is very useful.
