I love puppies because they're just so cute and playful but I don't like them when they get big. Ever since I moved on my own and started college I've gotten 3 puppies off of craigslist for free, in the "free to a good home" ads. Then after 4-5 months when they grow up I just set them free in the national forest outside town. I told my boyfriend and he freaked out, said it's bad to do that to a dog and you need to take it to an animal shelter. I don't want to because they kill dogs at the shelter if no one wants them though, but he still thinks it's the better thing to do. Is he right? Is it better to take a dog to a shelter or just set them free?
Cough troll.......
You can send them to no kill shelters, sell or just give them away to someone who may want them.
Dogs don't stay puppies forever, and since you don't like when the dogs get older i suggest don't get any more dogs, until you know you can handle one, because they are very expensive to take care of.Is it better to take a dog to a shelter or just set them free?
Your boyfriend is right what your doing is inhumane you shouldn't get puppy's if you don't want them it's like having a kid and waiting untill it's 16 and murdering it lol
Dogs set free will starve too death, get hit by a car or freeze.there are plenty of no kill shelters.in some cases these set free dogs start running deer or attacking chickens then they will be shot.Is it better to take a dog to a shelter or just set them free?
They have no kill shelters out there but they are few and far in between. When you set your pets free, they become prey to larger animals.
Obvious troll is obvious.
they will probably die either way to be honest. your better off giving them away.
Your boyfriend is right! What are you thinking? Those dogs have a much better chance of survival and happiness if sent to a shelter, did you ever wonder if the dogs k ow how to hunt or keep warm, the poor things will most likely starve sig you let them free.
And as for shelters killing animals they don't. My dog who is now 14 I got from a revoking centre when she was 9 and she had been there for six months. The o ly time they put animals down is if there is no chance of rehabilitation and it is the humane thin to do.
Always take them to a rehoming centre and NEVER set them free
