Why did my best friend do this to me, does he love me at all?

I've been best friends with this guy for 8 yrs, up till now. We met in college. After we graduated he got a job out of state, and now out of the country; but we have managed to talk on the phone every single day for 8 yrs. One summer before he moved away we had a summer fling, supposedly having no strings attached. Well I ended up catching feelings, as he was my first kiss. That's all we were supposed to do. According to him it would help me get over my fear of guys. Well one thing led to another and before I knew it I felt used. Years later, after I brought it to his attention of course, he apologized. Well here we are years later, and I find that I'm still in love with him even after 2 failed relationships with other men. I told my best friend I'm in love with him, and he responded he doesn't feel the same. Yet in the recent past, he kept saying "I love you, do you love me?", trying to get me to move in with him, and saying maybe what he's been looking for has been right in front of him. Well when I mentioned these things he denied most, and claims it was him joking. Now he's pursuing one of my friends; and threw it in my face only after he got jealous of his friend and I talking, which my best friend set up in the first place. I've told my best friend that I've felt unappreciated by him for years, and yet he seems to be getting worse now that he knows how I feel about him. He claims he can't lose me but, it doesn't feel that way. I cut him off recently, and we haven't spoken for 2 weeks. We already hadn't been talking on the phone much because, he's accumulated other girls but, I use to be the one he talked to most. I hurt so bad. I've lost my best friend. I don't think he ever loved me. I don't know if he's trying to respect my wishes of me not wanting to speak to him, or if he's relieved I'm gone because, he hasn't tried to reach out. I have no one. Does he love me? Did he ever?Why did my best friend do this to me, does he love me at all?
Get over him he is messin with your emotions..trust me their are as good *** or much beter than this guy out there, you need to find someone who is totaly infactuated with you and just wants to be with you, trust me you can find someone like that no problem just be patient and look for exactly what you want,,,quit holding on to this lame *** player boy you got now go get something better...

No sweety, he doesnt and probably didnt. I was in a similar situation a year ago but i struggled to get over it. He is not trying to get even with you,he just want you to see that there is more to life than the two of you.
