Why do people try to say that same sex couples will confuse children?

My 4 year old niece understands that I'm gay. It doesn't confuse her at all. She always says to me, "Uncle James, you're a princess because you marry boys." It's the cutest thing.Why do people try to say that same sex couples will confuse children?
It's one thing to understand being gay, it's another to not have a particular gender as a role model in your life. Having 2 dads or 2 moms would suck, as a child.
You could leave this at the simple ignorance of people who believe that homosexuality is a learned behavior, and an abominable one at that.



What I see, however is someone mindlessly repeating what some politician in office. And I suspect the politicians are doing everything they can to propagandize against same sex marriage and families for financial reasons.



Married people pay less in taxes than single people do. People with dependents pay less in tax than childless people. For every gay couple that marries and adopts a child, the federal coffers see a sharp decline in income, and a greater pay out down the road when retirement is reached and oen of the partners dies.



With Social Security already juggling to pay all the poeple it has to, the last thing a politician wants is to cut his programs to fund it, or lose income into it, or even have to put more money from other programs into it to keep it running. They're not shrinks, so to them it could be true, meaning possibly more people paying less in and recieving more, because they were allowed to marry and adopt children.



That means eventually, taxes have to increase across the board, and that's not something any politician wants to tell his constituents.



With as many as are out of work already, that's already a sharp loss to the IRS. By adding homosexual families, that loss could be significant.



So, anything that can be used to discourage the practice of gay marriages and adoptions makes sense to them. Even if it is a psychological campaign that's debunked by many psychological surveys.



The Westboro establishment that loosely terms it's self a "Baptist Church," also likes to yell about it. Because yelling attracts attention and donations, and that's how they make their money.

Awh your niece sounds so cute! I say people say that out of ignorance, or rather they conclude that since they were kids once, if they were to have a gay parent they would freak out, so of course every other kid most likely will act like them, completely ignoring the fact that it's biased, that this assumption they have here was made now, not years ago when they were actually kids, but right now where they are older and are uncomfortable with the topic of gay marriage.
Some people are afraid if the child has 2 gay parents then they will be raised to be gay...but if you use that logic then if the child is raised by hard core Christians who hate gays then they will be taught to hate gays...I could go on forever the point is children learn from there parents and people think it's bad for gays to teach children...which I believe if a child grows up with gay parents then they won't be brainwashed by society to believe that it's wrong. When they become older the could become gay...or not.Why do people try to say that same sex couples will confuse children?
Well...we do know that ignorance is a prevalent disease here in America, as well as the world. We're dealing with ignoramuses here. I SAY: If children are confused by same sex couples, its because their parents are too closed-minded and immature to enlighten their children. Children have questions...the majority of them pertain to what they see and hear. Parents should explain cultural and sociological matters to their children...and the more a child knows about things the less ignorant people we'll have to face in the near future. Lol....I say use your niece to be a public speaker about this issue lol...she certainly gathers attention. I wish you luck!
Wow that is so cute. But yea I guess people still live all closed minded in side their brains trapped in their own little world. They are just clueless people who need to be educated. They seem to think kids will turn gay if they have gay parents which is simply not true considering that being gay is something you are born with. But yea I see what your saying. People just need to open up and learn to be more open minded is all.
I saw a programme about a child who was confused by it. She'd been brought up by 2 lesbians (one of whom was her mum) and said she didn't know what men were for and consequently she thought gay people should give up the right to have children.
Because some people are ignorant and spend their time creating reasons to hate others. If someone would've told me when I was little that some men like men and some women like women, I would've understood. It's not that complex.
Kids in general have no issues with same sex couples what so ever. They tend to have far more in the way of issues with partners who are abusive or violent toward each other.
There's a big difference between people and idiots. Almost as great as the difference between people and christers.
I always thought of you as more of a Prince Charming type :)
