I have a Nikon Coolpix S4100. This morning I dropped it. I panicked since I just bought it about a week ago. Stupid me didn't buy a warranty.%26gt;%26lt; So I turned it on and it said "Lens Error" So I looked at what the damage was. While I was looking at it the little cover over the lens fell off. I turned it on again and it's working fine and everything. Now I'm just wondering what to do about the piece that came off. It's apparent that the only thing it's doing is protecting it. How can I get it back on? Here's a picture: (They were taken from my other camera that has bad quality. Sorry)

I'm hoping since I didn't actually break the lens, that this is fixable. Thanks. /:I dropped my camera and I don't know what to do.?
I can't tell from either your or Nikon's pictures if there is a little trap-door that fully covers the lens.
If there are no important moving parts in the ring that fell off, the simplest thing to do would be to just leave it off.
try to see where and how it was attached in the first place. I may be apparent it was held in by metal or plastic clips or just a spot ot two of glue.
If nothing near the ring moves, and as a last ditch HONEST effort, use something that can be removed (like double sided tape) to re-attach it. If the fix does not interfere with operation, you can later make it more permanent.
If in doubt, take it to the camera dept at Wal-mart and explain what happened, see what they think needs to be done.
the camera will only get worse as time goes on
$150 to fix lens error
warranty won't cover accidents
if you return the camera
nikon will see what happen
and you will have to pay for it
face up to what happened and deal with itI dropped my camera and I don't know what to do.?
1) If the camera was bought from a reputable source, it came with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. 2) You bought an awesome $100+ camera and couldn't be bothered to wear the wrist-strap Nikon provided?
If the camera still works, just use it as is for as long as you can.I dropped my camera and I don't know what to do.?
Bring it to the store, like glue that on or something and say "i am not satisfied with the product and would like to return it"
EDIT: WHEN YOU BRING IT make sure its dead so they don't bother checking it, HIGLY doubt they will either way.
